Who can use the SmartMiles app?

You'll need a Hastings Direct SmartMiles insurance policy to log in to the app. If you bought your policy before 1st July 2015, we're sorry but you won't be able to use it. This is because we updated our SmartMiles box technology, and older devices aren't compatible. If you bought your policy before 1st July 2015, you can continue to use your online dashboard to check your scores. Go to Manage My Policy to log in.
 

Will the app work on my phone?

The app is available for Android and iOS, and can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple App store.  If your phone runs Android, you'll need Android version 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or later. The app will work on iPhones, iPads or iPod Touch devices running iOS 6 or later.

How do I log in to the app?

Once your SmartMiles box is installed, we'll send you your username and password by email. Your dashboard login details will also work in the app. You can change your password to something more memorable once you've logged in for the first time.  If you haven't received an email with your username and password by the time you've made your first trip with the box installed, please call us on 01733 308 380 and we'll resend them to you.
 

How can I reset my username and password?

If you can't remember your password, you can get a reminder by pressing "Forgotten your password" on the app log in screen. Enter your username and we'll send you your password in a text message. If you've forgotten your username, give us a call on 01733 308 380 and we'll resend it to you.
 

How long does it take for my journeys to appear in the app?

Your scores and journeys will appear in the app soon after your SmartMiles box sends us the data. On average this will be roughly every 60 miles you drive, but can vary depending on how often you travel.
 

Does the app track my driving?

No, the app displays the scores and driving data recorded by your SmartMiles box, so won't be a drain on your battery or data allowance whilst you're driving.
 

Can I make changes to my policy using the app?

No, currently the app is only for monitoring your driving. If you need to make changes to your policy you can do this through your online portal. Go to Manage My Policy to log in.
